As an outreach ministry, a STIR team from Toronto attended a community Out of the Cold meal at St. Peter’s Parish in Toronto. They mingled with those in attendance and gave a mini presentation/discussion on transformation. It was a truly enriching evening.
Toronto by the Numbers
Since 2016, STIR Toronto has been providing small-group, weekend retreats and spiritual follow-up for men and women drawn mostly from Toronto’s inner-city, transitional homes and recovery centres.
2 retreat witnesses added to the retreat facilitators’ team.
3 retreat alumni trained and willing to share their story of addiction and recovery as a first step to becoming a retreat facilitator.
5 in-person weekend retreats for men and women in recovery from addiction and homelessness.
10 monthly spiritual accompaniment evenings, open to all retreat alumni and volunteer facilitators.
12 participants at Toronto Retreat facilitators’ workshop at Mary Ward Centre to: introduce new volunteers, review our retreat format, and establish committees.
22 hosted at a September weekend workshop for facilitators at Invermara Retreat in Orillia, with volunteers from Toronto and Montreal, to reaffirm our core mission of helping our retreat participants deepen their relationship with Higher Power / God.
